10.1 Installing PSnS

Besides creating the product diskettes and then installing them, we only found one other way to install PSnS from CD: using the integrated installation that comes with OS/2 Warp Server.

• Copy the \WARPSRV directory and its subdirectories from the Warp Server CD to your hard disk.

• Switch to the \WARPSRV directory on the hard disk and start WSCONFIG.EXE.

If you start WSCONFIG.EXE from CD, the installation procedure will try to create a response file on the read-only CD.

The Installing IBM OS/2 Warp Server window appears as shown in Figure 68.

• Choose Advanced Installation and press OK.

The following window shown in Figure 69 is just for informational purposes and does not have to be filled out in order to proceed.

• Press OK to continue.

The window Advanced Installation Warp Server Setup and Installation appears (see Figure 70).

• Select Backup and Recovery Services.

• Click on More to select your desired backup media and confirm by clicking OK.

• Leave the Warp Server Setup and Installation window by clicking OK.

The Configuration window will apear as shown in Figure 71.

• Check every item to see if you want to accept the default settings or change them.
  • Backup and Recovery Services lets you select the installation drive.

  • Books lets you install on-line publications for different Warp Server features.

  • Error logging services allows you to specify where errors should be logged.

  • Adapters and Protocol Services lets you check the MPTS configuration and update it if necessary.

• Press Install to start the installation process.

Two information windows will appear that you have to confirm. Then the installation program will automatically shut down your system.

After a manual restart the installation will continue automatically and eventually perform another reboot. If you have a SCSI tape drive attached to your machine you will notice three lines about the initialization of the SCSI tape driver during startup. After startup the installation is complete.
