Edition Notice

Preface

This document will help you to install, tailor and configure OS/2 Warp Server with almost all its components on top of OS/2 Warp 4.

Part 1 gives an introduction and overview explaining why you would use or not to use OS/2 Warp Server on OS/2 Warp 4. It talks about the hardware and software requirements of this configuration, as well as the known problems and limitations.

Part 2 describes how to install OS/2 Warp 4 and OS/2 Warp Server with all supported components, using the integrated installation of OS/2 Warp Server. This is the fastest way to configure and install OS/2 Warp Server on top of OS/2 Warp 4 with all the supported components.

Part 3 explains how to install the different OS/2 Warp Server components separately, without using the integrated installation as documented in Part Two. This is useful when you need to add a single component to an existing server without the overhead of the integrated installation

Part 4 describes how to upgrade an existing server with all supported components. It tells you which files you need to back up before the update and how to restore these files again. It also tells you what types of updates are possible and supported.
