8.2 Configuring Remote
Access Server
IBM NetFinity V5 is the latest version of NetFinity, formerly called TME 10 NetFinity, NetFinity or SystemView. It is a tool for systems management which covers software distribution and inventory, monitoring and remote control management of workstations, and much more.
When writing this document, we used the TME 10 Netfinity Version 4 .02 that is shipped with the OS/2 Warp Server SMP CD. However, you can also use the less recent Netfinity TME 10 version that comes with the single processor OS/2 Warp Server version.
IBM's System Validation testing was done using the version that is shipped with OS/2 Warp Server SMP. This is the first version of TME 10 that is shipped with OS/2 Warp Server. Later standalone versions of TME 10 are available, but have not been through system test. National Language Version (NLV) testing found a problem when installing TME 10 from Warp Server SMP and had to use a standalone version of TME 10 Netfinity (also 4.02) that is shipped separately.
TME 10 NetFinity Server 4.0 enhances the functions included in SystemView and provides new functions which makes TME 10 NetFinity Server a robust and easy-to-use desktop and server management tool. The following features are new with TME 10 NetFinity Server V.4.0:
